I have read with interest the comments over the years on this forum about AWBS.

I thought forumites might be interested to hear that my 18 year old son recently returned from his GAP year helped deliver a Bavaria 38 from Sydney to Wellington. He thought that the five year old boat coped very well and experienced no problems.

Ooooh Smokey ..... I don't think some forumites would want to read this.

Sometimes you only have to mention that your windex is broken on your 20 year old Westerly for people to go''yeh and what about all those Bav keels falling off!!'' /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Same logic as ''all hoodies are muggers'' but that doesn't stop the AWB knockers.

There is one doing class 6 in Burnham week and seems to be going very well, particularly today in the stronger winds. It came in behind a first 36 (Farr model), ahead of a Sadler 34 and just ahead of us in a 29 footer. About 16 boats behind us.

So they certainly can sail fairly well. Not sure how strong they are but I think the owner is about to find out as I am fairly sure they had a heavy coming together with the new First 36 at the start line.

We hang back a bit with Full Circle to miss anything like that.

Is it the cruising one or the match 38?

There's a match 38 I race against, and it's a weapon. They don't seem to be amazing sailors, certainly have more than their fair share of kite wraps, but they're always up there. It's a very quick boat.

No it is just the standard cruising boat. Not as quick as a cruiser/racer of the same length but I thought pretty good for a cruiser of that length.
