I had delevered in January a Bavaria 35HT. On a Trip out to Yarmouth at the beginning of June, just as i got into Southampton water after passing the Hamble Cardinel, the Hardtop come away at the front of the boat.

I has just accelerated upto around 25 knots, when all the fixings on the front 1/2 of the boat poped out and the roof came loose.
On inspection by a local surveyor is was discovered the hardtop was not fitted in the correct position at the factory and the was not boned to the hull and there was insufficient screws.

The only thing holding the top on apart from the Radar arch fixings was self tapping screws.

Any other failures out there????

A 2nd new boat also a 35HT had same problem, but thankfully didnt fail at sea, had a leaking roof. When investigated same fault, not fitted correctly at factory!!!!!

Hi 35HT,

Welcome. Got to say that the Bavaria Yard is normally a bit better than this with it being state of the art. Obviously seems a bad batch. Thanks for the update, may be useful in a few years time if I want one.

BTW, Apart from this issue, what are your thoughts on the boat?

Cheers

Paul

By The way,

Forum Rules dictate that you can not post the same point on more than one forum. Best to pop over the PBO and remove it!

One other thing, is your post a 'Rant' about poor quality or a genuine question. Bit confused now I have read it twice! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Rant or Question.

Do posts have to be one or the other, or can one have a rant, then ask a question?

I think if I had a Bavaria and either the top bit or the bottom thing (or any other major structure) came loose, I would probably have a rant, then ask if anyone else had suffered the same, bit like HT35 really!

Re: Rant or Question.

Not particularly bothered which, I just wanted to know if he wanted help or advice or just a rant. Must admit I would be peeved off as well! My hardtop is well and truly stuck on and no self tappers in sight (mind you mine is Finnish not german....)

No Offence meant HT35..

I've a friend who just sold a bavaria and it seems the stainless steel used isn't very 'stainless'. Always lots of rest on the cleats and such.

I think they're a cool boat, but I preferred the sports version to HT. Some of the mods to the 35 weren't to my personal preference over the 330 though.

I am sure, however, that if your problem is not a one-off the distributor, (Ancasta) will be straight onto Bavaria for a service bulletin procedure. The 35 is still a very new model and is bound to have teething problems!

Don't Panic yet, I'm sure it'll stay a float!

Bavaria dont seem to bothered!!!!

As far as i am led to believe they are not intending to check any otheres that they have sold.
