Iam not sure what anodes are fitted to my boat ,I know there is one on the saildrive just forward of the prop this seems fine does anyone know if there are more and also where they are?

We have the 31... the saildrive is the only one on ours, and I think its the same on the 34....

We replace the saildrive one as a matter of course every year..

I used to own a B34 and I fitted a hull anode just aft of the saildrive. It was electrically connected to the leg onlyand made a big diffrence to the wear rate on the small anode fitted to the saildrive leg. simple to fit. if you dont have one then i reccomend you fit one next time its out of the water.

May also be anodes on the propeller as well as the one on the sail drive itself. See the owners manual which can be downloaded from the Volvo Penta website if necessary

A hull anode connected to the sail drive is not a bad idea.

Not really going to be anything else that needs anodes. Guess you dont have a steel rudder blade.

But there is one in the engine if it is raw water cooled.

Seacocks should be bronze or at the least DZR brass so should not need anodes. They must not be connected to the same anode(s) as the saildrive.

Vic is correct in all he says...our Bav 34( also 2001) has 3 anodes ... a largeish McDuff pear shaped hull anode , a saildrive anode and a prop anode ( 3 piece for our volvo folding prop). The hull anode is pock marked but has loads of time left but we have replaced the straps on it this time. We replace the prop ones annually given that the only strength holding them on is the bit around the setscrew.
Lastly the saildrive anode has just been replaced this year....and this is perhaps something for you to look again at. We have had our boat 3 years and I was becoming a bit concerned that the saildrive anode was not taking much of a 'hit' and did indeed look in good nick....EXTERNALLY. Just to make sure and to see exactly what condition it was in, I gave it a sound stab with a big screwdriver and was alarmed when I went straight through apparently good metal! On removing the anode it was obvious that the spare that we'd kept for 3 years was needed at once as the inside of the one that was on was totally####ed! I'd suggest you find time to have a look while you lean against some wall one day soon. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Better safe than sorry!
