anyone got any opinions...?
attracted by size, maybe touch bigger than s28, still got kad32's so not too thirsty and simple, plus possibility of folding radar arch......

I've been very taken with Bavarias. The only question I would have is are the KAD 32's actually big enough? The Bavarias are actually quite solid boats, although on the face of it the KAD 32 is an economical engine, if you have to keep it on 3/4 full throttle to keep from being knocked off the plane, then the economy will go to hell in hand basket.

If/when you sea trial it, do it on a "lumpy" day and see how much real power there is. It's false economy to think that just because they are "small" engines they will be less thirsty. If they have to work hard for the majority of the time then fuel consumption will be worse than having bigger engines and beeing able to run them at less RPM.

The 300 should have a folding arch, as this was standard on the earlier boats (270,300,330). The 300 is a good boat, and with permanent berths forward and aft, allows for four to sleep cofortably without using the saloon, which is an advantage over the S28/T30 etc.

The cockpit is great, and as David said the hulls are very good. The 170hp KAD 32's should be enough to push the boat along. There were some single angine KAD44/300 boats, but most twins were KAD 32's.

All in a good boat, and the handling of bav hulls really is superb!

Good point about required power but on the basis that the kad 42 was used in the 330, the 300 should be fine.

The reason I'm saying this is because the 330 was too big for these units as proven by Jez's boat, which had them fitted originally. The 330 weighs in at 5500Kg or there abouts.
Check the weight of the 300 and I would guess it's around 3500 Kgs. Should go well with 2 x kad 42s'. Around 30 knots and easy cruise at 24-25.

If she gets up and out quickly on your sea trial and you can throttle back and remain planing, you'll know for sure.

BTW, I also like the BMBs'. I think they're great value boat, although some of the newer ones haven't made best use of the space available.
