Bavaria 30 Cruiser....???

Thanks for all the replies...some interesting comments to dwell on....as I said my ideal next boat would be a Moody 31 mk2....she has all the accomadation I would every need, performs well and a boat I know I will be happy in during a gale of wind.....the 336 looks a great boat but a few K more and to be honest a little too big as I single hand most of the time.........the Bavaria 30 caught my eye last week.....here in doors thinks its wondrfull inside but i have my reservations about how she will cope in a blow....that said her displacement of 4500kgs and ballast of 1100kgs is not too bad.........decisions decisions.......I guess if a Moody 31 mk2 in good order came on the market I would jump at it...............today I realise why I like the heavier more traditinal boat........my Albin Cirrus (typical Swedish boat) I sailed back from Millport to Troon in at times a 30kt east wind....singlehanded she carried full main and no2 head sail hard on the wind without any hassle.....she really has been a great boat to me and taken me thousands of miles in safety...........just now the phone went.....someone has seen my add and is interested to buy!!!......oh dear do I really want to let her go????

Well... there have also unfortunately been well published stories of the Bavaria Match racers losing keels...

Moody is a British boat which 'safe' yachtsmen like to sail. Unfortunately it has the associated limitation in performance. If I was looking for something around that size for weekend sailing or short cruises, I'd probably go for a Dehler 34. I sailed my brothers from Belgium to Kip. Apart from a few broken bits caused by a storm or two it was brilliant. Reasonable price and wonderful sailing capability, especially short handed.. Else go for a Nich 35. A real boat.. Smile..
