Bavaria V Sealine...
Both single diesel
Bavaria 2003 against Sealine @ 1998
Bavaria has more kit ie holding tank, thruster, cockpit fridge and larger rear seat in cockpit
Sounds like Bavaria wins on paper but what about resale, finish and build quality?

Definitly the Sealine wins on build quality and finishing versus a 2003 Bavaria.
But how about engine hours and condition of both boats.
After two years of ownership any boat is all about how it is kept and maintained. I would go and have a look at both boats before deciding.
 
Don't own either, so no axe to grind.

I think the Bavaria feels a bit larger, but the S/line is better finished, and will be easier to sell on.

Single engine? Unusual in this size? Again, consider residuals and ease of selling.
 
Thats a tough one, we quite like them both.

A lot would depend on the spec of the boat plus the condition and hours on the clock.

As others have said the Sealine would be easier to sell but is a much older boat and not as well specced. We love our Sealine but given the option of a newer better specced Bavaria for the same money we would have to think hard and long about which way to go.
 
I'd go for the Bav as by the time you paid to "spec up" the Sealine it will cost you a load more.
I love Sealines and have owned one, my current boat (Mustang) was unknown to me before I bought it but offerd a much newer boat than a similarly priced S28.
Re the re-sale - depends on how long you intend to keep her and how much depreciation the previous owner got hit for.

Good luck and go with your instincts - you're buying the boat for you not the bloke down the pub.

This is the problem - I am having to think hard and long but thanks for the input. I suppose it's a bit like buying a house. Get on board and you'll know if it's right

Both are good boats, but in different ways.

Bav will be a great drivers boat, but the S28 is pretty good in this respect too.

S28 is a nicer place to spend time, imho, as more time has been spent crafting the interior, rather than the Bav technique of a machine cutting things out and a man with a mastic gun filling in the gaps - the net result is an interior that is solid and acceptable if your viewpoint is purely utilitarian, but a bit lacking in joy.

Overall condition (exterior, interior, engines, etc) and history should be a factor too.

But, I'm a bit biassed on this one :o
