Was woken the other night by the fridge trying to start but failing on low voltage. 3 by 110 amphr batteries. one was sligtly warmer than the other two.
Had been standing in Bruces yard for 9 months with a solar trickle charge. The first night without mains charge all went well. The batteiries were good all night, fridge running hard all night as well to getit down to temp.
Splashed and all was well for a week then this scenario showed.
I isolated the suspect this morning after a careful charging. 12.7 v after standing for a couple of hours, 11.30, so looking good. Put a 20 watt bulb across it, he voltage dropped to 12.6 within ten minutes and then proceeded to go down. By 15.30 it was down to 9v underload, 12v offload but dropped immediately to 9v on load again. so assuming 2 amp ish for the bulb, it dropped to flatter than flat in 5 hrs on a 2 amp load. Does the team think it is shagged?

Beyond using a foot pump on it even. Weigh it in, 50p a kilo for scrap. I suspect that the rest may be close to failing too.
I was told by a battery maker that "trickle" charging batteries for long periods kills them, better to work them and charge fully to float voltage, until down to 3% of the capacity rating on the charging current, then repeat.
In other words charge a 100Ah battery till the final current is down 3A or less, then disconnect.

Did the batteries get a proper charge after the night running the fridge?

I got a bitin to the bank, Ive tested all three now, two drop the voltage rapidly, one less so. Ivegot that on mains charger now. the other two on solar. I dont hold out too much hope for them
