Battery voltage

Hi
Looking to fit an extractor fan for the boat, found one but it came with this warning...

"Please Note: If fan is used while battery is charging please make sure the voltage doesn't increase above 12v, if the increase is to high the fan will burn out, "

When battery is charging it usually gets up to around 14v doesn't it? So this fan is basically useless unless you switch your engine off and disconnect any other means of charging? I've found other similar fans and none of them state this, not does any other 12v device like lights, depth sounder etc..

Depends what they mean by 'the increase is too high' (14v isn't too high in my opinion)
And decent 12v appliance should have some sort of 12v regulator on it. If not I would walk away.

Thanks for the reply. The fan looks identical and has identical stats to fans on other websites, so I'm wondering if this statement has been put on there incorrectly.

But yeah, might avoid this one as it doesn't seem right.
