I was planning to have two domestic vented batteries (as advised by Sterling for their fast charging system) but have just been doing a bit of research into what is available.

There's a flooded Trojan 200ah one advertised at basically twice the price of two sealed 100ah or so ones:

Is there an advantage in having two rather than one? This seems the better option - less space, for example.

Two 100Ah batteries will almost ceratinly require more than twice the volume space of a single 200Ah battery but the actual dimensions may make them easier and more versatile to fit.

A 200Ah battery is going to be heavy to handle.

Vic's point about weight was the first thing that came to mind. I struggled to lift one 110Ah battery into position in my boat. The two domestic batteries only fit if at right angles to each other so one large would be no use to me.

Functionally there is no difference - practically there certainly may be.

It's not a 200Ah battery - it's only 115Ah. A real 200Ah battery will weigh around 50+kg, which is one reason why many people prefer to use multiples of smaller capacity batteries.

If anybody can be bothered, that's got to worth an email to Trading Standards - either a truly naive mistake, or a blatant con!

Thanks for advice - 50Kg is certainly too much to handle.

Not sure why Sailorman sent that link - they seem to be sealed rather than vented. Am I missing something?
