I have a spare marine battery which I would rather keep on the boat than at home, for practical and space-saving reasons however will the cold weather shorten its lifespan? I'm guessing it will as people always seem to have problems in cold weather but would be grateful for opinions.

thanks

Store it fully charged, and with the casing clean and dry, in a cool place.

For some reason a concrete surface is bad news, so tucked away on the boat sounds better than on the garage floor.

Would be best to top up every month, though a good one will last for 2-3 months if clean and dry. Alternatively couple it up to one of those solar panels designed to trickle feed them.

Urban myth...

[/ QUOTE ] Afraid that's just an urban myth in the 21st century. See here for background.

Some interesting stuff on that site, Thanks for the link.

Bad idea IMHO to store a battery on any floor. The higher it is above the floor the less likely to get things dropped on it or otherwise damaged
