The boat is a 5 year old jeanneau with a 75 Ah start battery and a matching 75 Ah house battery. Charging is via the alternator and, when on shorepower, a charger with dedicated outputs and sensing :confusedfor each bank.

The question is can I change the house battery for a bigger Ah rating keeping the starter battery as it is?

Take it you will install suitable house battery of higher amperage? ie deep cycling?

Probably space in the locker is the main limitation on size you can go to - 130 amp would be good. Or two smaller batteries if space is a limitation? Be sure you can bolt the new battery down 100% firmly.

Recommend you go for wet battery and spend frugally. Too many empty claims made for batteries that have no relevance to marine use. Plenty of advice on the forum as to where to get good deal.
