Good evening. I'm looking to purchase 2x new start batteries.

Is there much difference between the pair ?

I will need two. They will need to start a Mercruiser vm 4.2D 220 and also a Lofrane Caymen 88 1000w windlass (currently got 2x 760cca normal batterys atm which are dieing)
Was looking at Agm rather than normal batteries.

I am looking at the Excide EK950 AGM .

Go for that, it's the same price and has a 3-year warranty (versus 2-year). Good batteries. I have them in my house bank and for my bowthruster.

I imagine they're basically identical batteries, with different labels.

This is what I was thinking. Just wondered if any Battery technical pros on here might know the difference .

The problem I am having is that when using the windlass with the engine running also and pulling to the anchor I am loosing a fair bit of ,so in doing so I have to keep the engine revs up, which then means it becomes a pain in the arse to drive up to the anchor (to try and keep as much stress of the windlass as possible) at the same time, which is a 2 man operation atm especially in a fast running tide.
