battery management systems

I'm going to fit a battery management system to my boat with a large domestic bank and larger alternator. Does any one have any experience of whether mastervolt or adverc systems are best. I am finding it very difficult to find reviews that compare the two. thanks

I've got a X-Alt supplied with my Nanni, wish it was a Sterling or Adverc.

I THINK mine is a Sterling, a fairly simple unit but one which sends the alternator to full output for 15 mins after startup. Not as sophisticated as the TWC unit that I would have liked to get but I think the company that made the TWC is long out of business now.

One side effect of fitting this unit is the cost in fan belts; the 65 amp alternator is on a single V belt pulley and I go through 2 or 3 belts a season.

I have tried to think of a solution to this problem but without success.

Other than that the Sterling does seem to keep the betteries up.
