Hi all, a friend of mine has offered me a couple 115A batteries new, great!
The problem is their are 6v and not 12v...i think they are for golf trollys, can i still use them on my 12v system at all?

Connect them in series and you (theoretically) have a single 115 amp 12 volt supply.
Some battery technician will be along short to say something else.

Short answer is yes. You need to attach the positive from one to the negative on the other (in series) and you will have 12V. I’m sure someone will be along with a more detailed explanation – or I will be back tomorrow…. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Presumably as traction batteries they should be ideal for a boats domestic power if wired in series. No doubt others will know better than I, but you probably need to provide more details about them as to whether they should be used for engine starting.

(I presume you mean 115Ah)

If they are golf cart batteries they're great. I used them for years. Golf carts have to put up with frequent deep discharge and charging, so similar duty to boat domestic batteries.
As others have said, wire them up to be a single 115 amp 12v battery bank.

Yes no problem connecting them in series. They were probably originally used as 4 in series for 24 volt golf cart. The reason they are only 6 volt is to make the weight of each manageable. olewill

Diagram i drew recently to illustrate series and parallel connection of batteries.

But note, as Salty john says ,two 115Ah batteries in series will still only be 115Ah not 230Ah!
