Battery experts? , Enduroline Batteries?

I'm even more confused than when I asked the question!

Thanks for all the replies but I don't understand enough to make an informed decision, I think I'll stick to what I've got, the Varta, the last one lasted 10 years so cant be too bad!

Cheers

Probably a sensible decision ........ my battery, an LFD60, is the 60Ah version of the LFD75

If you expected to cycle it many times in 10 years or less one of the AGM batteries suggested by pvb, LA70 or LAD60, would be worth considering but Id not guarantee 20 year life spans to make it an economical proposition

Although Varta isn't real Varta now, just a brand of Johnson Controls a big US producer with a number of brands including Optima, I would expect its quality to be better than the other names that have been mentioned.

PS Having just had a look at Tayna I'm astonished to see that the Enduroline is dearer (£90) than the Varta (£76). That definitely clinches it! However Tayna also have their own cheaper brand Powerline, visually identical to Enduroline, and the same one in that range is still claiming 100Ah at only £63 http://www.tayna.co.uk/XV100MFL-Powerline-Leisure-Battery-Positive-Front-Left-P8966.html . I wonder how much difference there is between the Enduroline and the Powerline other than the label and the warranty?

It's a pity they don't give weights.

Monday I ordered two Enduroline 110ah batteries from Tanya and they arrived yesterday (as texted) between 17:00 and 18:00. Very good service. Batteries look fine and were extremely well packed...

cheers

Very often true!
The Varta is probably better and its claimed capacity probably more realistic but as already said by several posters, none of these is really a deep cycle battery. Even Varta is only a brand name now not the real first class company it used to be.
The UK market these days seems particularly prone to downright dishonest claims by distributors.
My batteries are badged Alphaline and are called deep cycle by the distributor, but the manufacturer of them (AtlasBX in Korea) says they are starter batteries OK for the occasional discharge.
If you really want a deep cycle battery, Trojan T105 or an equivalent is probably the lowest cost solution (per Ah).
Weight is a pretty good quality indicator - nobody has found a lightweight substitute for lead yet. If A's 125Ah battery is lighter than B's 100Ah battery - be suspicious of A. Nobody understates their capacity.
There's an unusual level of unanimity in responses to this thread!

This is very true and weight is a good indicator of quality. I have just replaced all my battery banks with 'Fullriver' AGM's. They are American distributed by Merlin Powersystems in this country and I honestly could not believe the weight of the things. Nearly put my back out trying to lift them on to the boat. They do seem extremely high quality though. Certainly not cheap but like I say quality very rarely is!
