Hi there,
I too have an Evenrude 25hp outboard.

I bought it 15years ago.
Used it two seasons.
Hurt back, so its been in the garage ever since.

A mate runs it up every now and then.

I must get an electric start one.

The two seasons i used it, it performed well.
Nice bit of kit.

Ha Ho, the ramblings of an old man.

kind regards,
Les. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Tell us the model number (plate on the port side of the transom bracket) or at the very least the year of manufacture and we will be able to look up some info perhaps.

If there is a socket and it is not an electric start model it is probably an AC output for lighting. The electric start models do usually have an inbuilt rectifier and a DC output for battery charging.

If it has a AC output then a battery charging adapter would have been available for it and may still be.

On reflection if it has a socket it is almost certainly an AC output. DC outputs usually have a lead connected

It might be possible to use a suitably rated bridge rectifier from the likes of Maplin if it is a two wire output but many Evinrudes have a three wire output which requires a 3 phase rectifier. OK if you are competent to make one from 6 individual diodes.

A 25 hp Evinrude is not likely to have more than a 5amp output which will be unregulated. Larger models, esp those with power tilt and trim have a more powerful stator and a water-cooled rectifier/regulator.

Hello

Richard
