Replaced cheap alphaline leisure batteries that were 7 yrs old. One showed faulty (no green indicator). This battery was swollen and acid had leaked out at the top.
2 other leisure batteries showed green as did the cranking battery.
All measured 11.5V on removal and to my surprise held charge for 2 days (faulty battery dropped to 11V). Batteries then PX back to shop.
It was the low voltage when switching charger off that made me suspect something was wrong.
Fitted 3 Trojan leisure batteries 110AH. Charger is Victron Phenoex 50A 3 outlets. No adjustment on this charger.
Charger is on 24/7. It shows 14.5V Steady.
Is charger overcharging and that cooked leisure battery or do you think 7yr old cheap battery just failed.
Can switch charger off each night to rest batteries but hate to replace charger as just a precaution.
Any advice or ideas please?
