Battery cable mid-way clamp-on terminals?

I don't know about the prevalence of external regulators, but I thought battery-sensed alternators were relatively rare.

Thousands and thousands of boats are fitted with Sterling/Adverc "smart" regulators. Lots of others have a battery-sensed alternator connection.

But you didn't comment on the question of exaggerated joint resistance...

These clamps are what I imagine the OP wants. However for small currents on the take off he could drill and tap a hole in side of one of the clamps. Get a brass screw and file a point on the end. Then the clamp can be put around the outside of the cable and insulation and the brass screw tightened up to make a connection. (IDC) Insulation displacement connector.
Alternatively OP could make a clamp out of a bit of copper strap> take off the insulation wrap the strap around and clamp up with a screw and nut. Put a lug to the new wire under the screw or add another crew and nut on an extended tag. good luck olewill

I thought the same,so the wiring and terminals were changed very quickly.

I do think the terminals are what the OP had in mind.
