Thanks to all, and I'll go with Nigel's suggestion of buying a crimping tool on Amazon...

If you went for the one in my link, I get about 50p

One thing you may like to consider. There is a suggested connection pattern where the discharge and charge cables are on different ends of the chain. I also went for belt and braces, my three batteries are joined in a delta configuration with three cables.
