Was discussing with marine electrician the problem I was having with my eberspacher heater and he suggested the battery may be at fault. He said a semi traction battery would be better as this would charge more fully from the alternater.
The battery was poor as the boat had been laid up for a while before I purchased her. Any info appreciated

What problems you having john? I assume it is cutting out if the sparks was looking at your batt. it may be the cable connection to your eberspacher is to far away and the cable is not the requirede diameter, i know mine was wrong. I doubled up on the cable and it cured my problem. It would only run foe a short time, then cut out)

Don't know whay your problem is with the Eberspacher John, but if you think the batteries at fault try your Eberspacher with the engine running. I'm not sure about better battery charging with a semi traction one , but if you've a problem with charging your bateries consider an Ardverc or Sterling charger. There's been mant threads here already about them.

The problem is it is blowing cold air only. It doesn,t seem to fire up correctly as there is no noise from the pump and no exaust. I have tried it with the engine running and off following time motoring. There is no carbon around the outlet at the stern so I assume it hasn,t been run much. I only bought the boat mid summer last year. The battery is old and past its best but would this affect starting even when the engine is running ?
