I have been looking at how I can increase the size of my battery bank.
Currently it comprises of 2 x 95Ah (domestic) + 1 x 70Ah (engine) lead acids. I was thinking of doubling the domestic capacity by changing to 2 x 180Ah AGM‘s.
It appeared on paper that by slightly moving a few other components about ( eg webasto fuel pump/ bilge pump etc) that it would work but having now measured accurately, the upward curvature of the hull prevents this..
There is a space below the saloon seat where the current fluxgate is fixed. If the fluxgate was moved, I could have one of the 180Ah in the existing battery compartment and the other below the seat. This however, would position them about 2.0m apart. If the battery cable was sized appropriately, would 2.0m matter?
Any other issues?
