Bates Wharf are the new South Coast Dealer for Fairline

Thank goodness. I have a pile of cash to spend on a boat and yet having identified the Phantom50 as the boat for me, cannot get the previous incumbent to take any notice. Hats off to Tom Benson from Sunseeker's brokerage who is doing a great job of finding me the right boat.

Essex can find you one for a bag of sand and 10% of the final purchase price :)

edited to say I've always seen Bates Wharf as a speed boat sort of a place rather than somewhere to go for a large motor yacht. Certainly they have never popped up on my radar when changing craft.

They may well have the largest indoor showroom on the Thames but I'm not sure there's much in the Fairline range I'd fancy owning for pottering along the river. Sledge hammer / walnut !

I wish both parties the best of luck in their venture and hope that brand loyalty doesn't get watered down with the move. My Fairline days were during the Peters era when I felt the brand was extremely strong.

H,mm dealer that specialises in weeny soapdishes for sheltered Thames gets to sell Fairlines sea going top of the range stuff.
Perhaps Essex were a bit to "independant" for FL,so Fairline looked around for somebody a little more compliant .................... and easier to push around ? ?

Chertsey branch to be branded as "Fairline London"

So, I wander in and hand over my cheque: "Cab to the Ritz to celebrate." Oh dear, that's the commission gone. :D

It will be interesting to see who BCU are representing at SIBS in September, it will be good to hear the full story, esp from their side when all the deals are done. I can't believe that FL would have pulled the dealership away given the fan base and customer satisfaction that BCU enjoy. From FL pov, I doubt that the grass looked greener on the other side, more that BCU or their bank said, 'get off my grass'. Hopefully JFM/Jrudge or mr Millington will be able to contribute at some point to sate my appetite for gossip. :)

Bates have been Fairline dealers (alongside BCU) for some time.

I've had relatively recent dealings with Richard and Claire Bates and found them very professional and helpful however I bought the current boat from BCU/EBY simply because they were equally as professional but had a vastly bigger selection of the type of boat I was looking for and offered a good commercial package. Know doubt come the time to change the boat again both will hopefully have grown in their sectors and I will talk to them both to see what they can offer me.

could have been worse
