Hang on let's not confuse quality & service with extended opening hours. I would prefer to eat somewhere where the kitchen staff delivered good food over a 2.5 hour lunch time window, rather than 24 hour microwave cuisine.

The economics of North America are different and can support a 24 hour service culture. Eating out in the UK is in general a dismal experience but let's look for a European solution and not import unsustainable US economics.

Write to the MD of the company explaining why they have lost a sale, and the local newspaper - sending copies to each.
I've done just that having been badly treated by traffic wardens at Westward Ho! over the Christmas holiday (penalty ticket even when displaying a valid ticket). This has tapped in on a local issue and the local paper is now running an article triggered by my letter. The loss to the local economy due to my never going to Westward Ho! again is much less than due to failing to sell a boat, so maybe you'll get even more interest.

I have a nasty feeling those stats you've quoted are a little out of date. I do know that I feel like I live in one of the most taxed countries even if it's not true.

Dig a little deeper and another picture emerges.

We Britons spend the most on public transport fares compared to any other European nation. The French are taxed more but they benefit from a cheap national rail service that is a national jewel.

The same analogy could be made between Porcle Farce and La Post.
