Can anyone give me the latest on this.

I need to plan moving the boat from Brundall to Shotley, and have not heard if the work has finished, and if openings are back to normal.

Thanks

Neil

Perhaps in the light of the ongoing problems with the various bridges and lock you have to negotiiate to get into the north sea, Gt. Yarmouth, for all it's faults, looks favourite at the moment.
I have brought my boat, numerous times, from Acle down to the Orwell in the spring and have often regretted going the southern rivers route.

John.

You could phone Lowestoft Bridge Control on 01502 572286 manned 24/7 of course who will advise the current situation.
or as said take the route through Gt Yarmouth.....Test the boat across Breydon water and not have to pay for the lock fee at Oulton Broad.
I am sure you know but do phone Breydon bridge the day before to book as they sync that with town bridge.

If you really want Lowestfot they were having problems with the railway bridge after the lock and needs to be booked 24 hrs in advance

Thanks All

As our mooring contract expires at Brundall on the 31st, and it looks like the sh!tty weather will continue to conspire against us making it to Shotley, the thought was to get to Lowestoft Haven, and therefore at some point we will need the Bascule bridge lifting (either inbound if we go out at Yarmouth, or outbound to Shotley). As the air draught is only 4m we should be OK under the railway bridge at the right state of tide.

I suppose we could always leave her at RN&SYC, but I think their casual mooring rate is quite a bit more expensive than the Haven.

Will do as Dougie suggests and and speak to bridge control.

Thanksagain

Neil

There are extensive plans for refurbishment of the rail swing bridges at Oulton Broad, Somerleyton, and Reedham. Oulton Broad is currently ongoing. Somerleyton is next and will probably result in out of season closures yet to be published. Reedham will follow with additional works to supplement those carried out last Autumn. (Don't know about the road bridges.)
So if you are planning winter or even "edge of season" boat movments check the Broads Authority website - Notice to Mariners page for bridge availability.
