I inherited a Size 1 Barton traveller track and cars with my boat. I now want to fit it. The problem is that the car has lost it’s ball bearings. Barton do not seem to stock replacements. They do have upgraded torlon bearings at £157 - yes £157 for a handful of tiny ball bearings. The whole kit of track, end stops, cars ect is only £300 so this seem exploitative.

Does anyone:

1) know of a source of suitable bearings
2) know the size needed

If it's any consolation, the torlon balls for the Size 1 long car are £132 at Marinestore.

Would it be cheaper to buy a replacement car?

Seems crazy that Barton don't say what size the balls are. Perhaps try asking a few riggers if they can tell you the size?

Harken equivalent is £12 for 20 I have discovered. Less than half the price of Barton.

Answering my own post just in case it is useful to someone else.

The balls are 1/4” (6.35mm). I have just bought 100 Delrin balls(original spec) from a specialist bearings company for £18.

Can you give us the name of the company? I replaced a turning block recently because it was cheaper than new balls.
