Does anyone know if barton cars will fit on a Beneteau (Lewmar?) track.
If so,can anyone enlighten me on how the barton system works as, looking at pics on website I can't see a take off point for the pulley rope???

Thanks
Jane

Welcome to the forum jane.
I have the same(ish) question about my Harken 32mm track (been meaning to get round to this!), so I just phoned Barton - they will call me back after lunch, and I will post the answer later.

I bought the 32mm t track ones about 3 months ago, great help from barton.

For them to work on my lewmar track you need to speak to barton. The cars come with a plastic insert between the car and the track, Barton provide a slimmer insert for use with Lewmar track.

The cars need a track end stop. on the track end stop there is a block and a fairlead, on the car is a single block.

You attach your towing line to the fairlead, through the block on the car, through the block on the end stop and back to the cocpit.

On the aft end of the car is another fairlead that you can attach some bungy to to help the car return aft.

They are well built, although when i come to replace these i will go for the ball bearing version as they are not that easy to move underload, it will however require a track change

Thanks.

Thanks for your help.
Now I know what the thingies on the end of the towable car is! Doesn't having yet another bit of bungy around mean more clutter? I'm thinking that if they are hard to move under load, which is when I least need to go on deck, I may as well just stay with the ' go on deck and move it' variety??

Barton called me back.

Apparently, your Lewmar track will be fine with Barton without modification, but if it is an older one, then Barton will supply you with milled inserts as a swap out. Excellent service

PS: Mine on a 32mm Harken track will fit OK too.

jane.

the bungy is not a problem at all, no clutter and really does help the car move aft (saves having to leave the cockpit. I have the older lewmar track and i should maybe have been a bit clearer about moving the cars. The cars move fine so long as we are not in a F6 and pushing the boat, we tend to race a bit and the ball bearings would have been an advantage in these conditions. For cruising you would have no problems adjusting as you would ease the sheet just a little, not what we really want to do when racing.
