I have just brought my winches home for a service. I thought they were on their last legs, but on closer inspection the internals seem in excellent condition, apart from the self-tailing jaws which are completely worn down splitting in half.

They are Barlow 22 single speed self-tailing whinches and I cant find anywhere that sells replacement jaws. I did come accross the Hutton-Arco website that says they can supply the spares, but the date of the website is Jan 2004, and I get no reply when I email them, and I never find myself awake when I could phone them as they're in Australia.

Does anyone know of somewhere in Europe where I could find these parts, or if Hutton-Arco still exist/supply these parts?

Thanks,

Tommy

There's a UK south coast winch specialist, can't remember his name right now, but he declares that he does Barlow stuff... If the old grey cells wake up I'll come back and let youknow

Arco-Hutton (the Australian Winch Company) have all the tooling for Barlow winch part manufacture. I'd persist with trying to reach them, as I've found them very helpful in the past - it may be that they're having summer holidays (it's mid summer here in Aus).

Just to update...

I managed to get through to to Hutton-Arco in the end and Bruce was very helpful. Unfotunately they could only supply the top jaws as the tooling for the bottom ones no longer exists. Hopefully the new bronze top jaws will give my winches a new lease of life though.
