Swmbo has been on for a while for a shower to wash her hair, so freeing us from the need to go into marinas. I priced one up using a submersible pump and shower head. It came to about £100.

Today I bought a protable 12v shower from a caravan shop for £21.99! It comes with all the bits you need, has a cigaette lighter plug and a box for 4 x 'D' cell batteries that it claims to last 100hrs use. It pumps 10 litres in 5 minutes, which is plenty for hair washing and won't waste to much water. It's made by Ring Automotive. I've only just tried it out but it seems a good bit of kit at a good price.

Chandlers take note, I'm sure you could sell cart loads of them at this price!

Caravan shops are a good place to go for plumbing, cooking etc. People who have caravans don't get held to ransome the way we do.

We used to use one of the pump action garden sprayers when camping. Just put a shower head, the straight bit from one of the ones that push on to the sink taps, on the end of the hose instead of the attachment that it comes with. Garden centres usually have them in the 5 to 10 litre range. You can fill it with hot water or I always wondered about painting the bottle black or just wrapping it in a black plastic sack and leaving it in the sun.

Re: Gravity.

Have you considered one of those 25 litre solar heated polly bags?

Last year the swmbo was happy with one hung from a halyard outside the heads porthole. They also provide a useful means of complimenting the main water tank supply.
