Hi All,
I have passed the theory and completed the practice course for the RYA Day Skipper (motor). I have quite enjoyed my time at sea, ultimately, I am considering buying a boat, but before that, I would like to do some bareboating. I need help finding a bareboat charter for motor cruising. Any advice, please? thank you!

ps: I live in London, happy to travel south/south east/east coast. thank you

I think you would need your power boat level 2 , even then I doubt if you would find one ,what size are you thinking.

As has already been said you will struggle to rent anything larger than a small day boat on a bareboat basis. The closest you will get is to charter a boat and then work with the charter company to fine tune things to your requirements.

At www.charter-solent.co.uk we have a number of clients who charter prior to purchasing themselves either to see if its for to convince partners or to get a feel for what they want.

Rather than a typical day charter we can put together more of a cruising charter over a. number of days where you play as big or small a part as you want. This is as close as possible to an own boat experience as you will get.

What size boat were you thinking of eventually buying or don’t you know yet?

Thank you. Will look at yatch club costs, and facitilities provided by . Though £9900 is a bit expensive for me...

Whilst it seems a lot a berth in Lymington for a 30' boat is £8k a year alone (if you can get one as there's a waiting list). Add on depreciation, maintenance costs, insurance etc then it's pretty good. Obviously if you live elsewhere where berthing is considerably cheaper it's less attractive.
