There seem to be a few good deals (not surprisingly) but is it a good plan to go? Thinking of late August, early September. Are there any problems with fuel, money etc and what about security if its known tourists are taking a stack of cash?

Tourism is of massive importance to Greece, the boat will come full of fuel so you'd have to motor everywhere to burn it all off, take enough euros to last you if you're worried about ATMs and split your cash up and hide it on the boat if you're worried about security.

My view is if you can get a great deal then go for it, the Greeks are very welcoming even if they are going through rough times. I was there a couple of weeks ago and didn't see any difference from when I was there last year.

I thought that would be the reply. Are there any local charter companies offering very good deals?

Try Sail Ionian. Just had an email from them with some good deals for the end of season. after 1st week September is good as the European holiday season is over and kids are back at school.

Can't answer the charter question but can say that here in the beautiful Ionian life is going on as normal. People are so friendly and helpful.

We fuelled up in Preveza a few days ago, no hassle but of course "cash is king" . Supermarkets still accepting card payment, most small shops and others cash only. Chandlers included, well at Lefkas that was the deal.

We've told people coming to visit to bring whatever euros they think they'll need.

Greece needs support, hope you can book that charter :encouragement:
