I've always been a bit anti as the presence of smoke is an international distress signal but I'm coming round to the idea. Last year YM did a test of barbies and the neatest idea was a box you put a disposable in but it was well over £100. Now this looks like the same thing at a more realistic price. The details are pretty scant so I can't see if it's stainless or how secure it is. Has anyone seen one?

p.s. BBQ, barbie, Bar-B-Q, Barbeque..... am I the only person in the world who can spell BARBECUE???

hi yes used them on many trips in bush and on boat the base is a hard foil it comes with small b b q beads ready to go they are realy good cost here is about 2quide your money , dave
 
hi yes its all our favourite way to cook most thing that we eat here t,.bone steak prawns rib filt and most veges to, we eat a lot outside so its a good way to cook , we got all kinds of barecues here from a few quid to thousands . dont think theres a boat or house with out one , dave
 
Yes, I've used disposable barbies a few times, over here they are as common as fleas on a wombat (we can get them for as little as 80p) and they work quite well. I once put one on a piece of chipboard to protect the lawn. By the end, it had burnt right through the board and scorched the grass underneath. Hence my concern that the support should prevent any sort of spillage. I wondered how strong the bracket is.
 
hi i put mine on a peace of steel on two bricks rough but safe , the one your looking at is good like real one, and stand is ok .you can use it quite a few times before you feel like throwing it away , if its same as we got looks same only way to fined out is buy and try dave
 
From our local Co-op (West Midlands) I've just bought a s/s barrel barbie on little legs that opens out to offer a windbreak or second grill if required. I reckon it will stand on the aft cabin hatch at anchor so fumes poison the next boat downwind rather than us. Cost us 14 squids so I don't care if it isn't very practical when we do try it out.
 
I watched a boat light up a barbecue on a mooring off Cowes last night. Whilst I love to cook on ours at home or on a disposable on the beach, I find the idea of a flaming tin can hung off the back of the boat a little bit disturbing!
What surprised me the most about last night was the inflatable dinghy bobbing about underneath - I could just visualise something hot (such as a coal) dropping off and melting the dinghy!

Still every man to his thing!
 
Hi, we are looking probably to getting a Cobb. They are supposed to be very good even to the point of been able to use inside, why you would want a BBQ indoors God only knows. You could clamp this to your pushpit rail.

Bought a C Chef or perhaps Sea Chef stainless construction open base that takes a disposable unit clamps to the pushpit inboard or outboard. After half dozen uses this year no problems with heat transfere or spillage either of hot coals or spitting fat etc. Ideal for two with a bit of juggling could do for four. Bit expensive at about £100 but well made and does the job, small enough to stow easily would reccomend one.
 
That's not at all the same thing as the Cobb. The thing about the Cobb for us is that a) there is no smoke/sparks once the firelighters have burned and b) it is safe as the fire is contained well within the body of the thing, which itself is cool enough to touch and move even when cooking. It cooks well, too.
