Bar Keepers Friend is good stuff

Some 5 years ago I had a leak in my multi layer old engine oil containment system. Well the bin bag leaked didn't it.

So I got a large black stain on my cockpit floor. My boat is 40 years old and the cockpit floor is a very rough diamond pattern non slip. I guess it is pretty porous. I have tried all sorts of soaps detergents solvents acids including ON OFF which shifts most things but to little avail. I still had this large dark ugly stain.

Well yesterday I sprinkled some Bar Keepers Friend on the stain dampened it down scrubbed a little and sprinkled on some more. This morning the stain is gone.

It is good stuff (oxalic acid). It is excellent for removing brown stains from topsides and rust stains from s/s.
