My boat has a Banten Duplexer fitted - model 00083 - which is fitted in-line with the VHF radio to VHF aerial cable. It is passive (ie no internal amp) and provides an aerial output to the boat AM/FM radio. Banten website gives little info on this device.

Question - I appreciate this must introduce some loss to the VHF radio output getting to the aerial, but can anyone say how much - is it significant?

Thanks

I am guessing here that "VHF radio" marine band VHF trnasmitter receiver. While possible this is not a good idea to try to divert the antenna to a AM vhf /FM reciver. The power going out on transmit is quite large and could easily cook the AM/Fm reciever. But it it can be done. I woud suggest far better to fit another vHF aerial perhaps on the stern rail for emergency VHF trnasmitter or AIS receive or AM/FM reciver. Leave that important VHF trnamitter to its own aerial good luck olewill
