My predikshun is Southerly F7/8 Sat/Sun turning N F8/9 Monday, absolutely peeing down and as cold as this morning's air conditioned railway carriage.

Airconditioning on the railway works by exaggerating the ambient feel, so if its a wee bit cold it makes it BMW, it its warm it makes it HTKP.

Oh fer crysake Jimi, wouldn't you rather crew up north of Watford again that weekend, you don't REALLY want to be out in the Channel with all those thousands of boats now do you. The Hebrides are good I hear or a Meddy charter?? Please, please, pretty please with knobs on...

Seriously though that is good news, we will keep our fingers crossed for you.

Was thinking of the wonderful, "new" trains introduced by Network South West on the London to Exeter line just before privatisation. All was well until the weather got hot when, um, the aircon stopped working. Several months later, and by then in the caring hands of South West Trains, there were triumphant announcements about modifications having been made to the aircon, to improve it. This appeared to consist of little lights being installed at the end of each carriage to alert you to the system's status. So, when the third light came on, the aircon wasn't working - though I have to say that most passengers were already able to come to this conclusion by looking for tell-tale signs, such as fellow passengers collapsing with heat exhaustion. The third light was the signal for a little man to walk along the train and open the (limited) emergency ventilation windows in each carriage, thus reducing the temperature from 'inferno' to 'sauna'.

Happy days..............

Ah. Then I'm preaching to the converted. I used to use the line from time to time but usually travel in to Town from Winchester which, being the home of Merchant Bankers and Sea Ray owners, has far superior rolling stock on offer.

I trust that the launching of Glen Rosa doesn't put the kybosh on the Bank Holiday weather. I am taking half term week off, in the hope that we can get out on the boat. If we end up with tempests and sea serpents, I will know who to blame. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Have you not seen what is winding up out on the pond?

It'll be just like last year. A bit mizzy on the Saturday, but glorious for the rest of the week. We could do without the fog this year though.

Destination Cornwall (usually reliable) forecast pressure declining by Friday and a low developing with strong winds by Saturday. Well, it is the start of Transat on the following Monday.
