SO the boat club rang today saying there is a problem with our biggest Bavaria.

The problem is apparently neither engine will hold revs, they both hunt around before dying to idle. RK Marine have been down and the diagnostics say no problem, so they have suggested it is a problem with the starboard drive, stopping the starboard engine revving and therefor dragging the port engine back down too.

Does this sound feasible? anyway, boat out tomorrow, so just as the weather looks to be improving the boat situation is fubar :(

Jez, you have not said much detail, is this in gear, out on the water or what?.

I doubt RK would get it wrong, if there is no vodia fault they should know whats the problem from years of experience, the service manager is on holiday from memory.

Maybe its just fuel related and a dirty bottom, one engine should rev more than the other if there is a problem with just 1 engine, if there is adrive problem the drive would slip and revs increase due to no load on the prop.

As to why the other engine will fall back to idle may be fuel related unless the EVC is not allowing the good engine to pick up revs.

Id try them both separate with one engine shut down then the other and record the revs in gear.
