The May Bank holiday weekend forecast was not so good this year. Saturday was forecast as windy and Monday was overcast with a stiff breeze. However we saw a window of opportunity on Sunday with a bright morning forecast as well as the lowest wind of the weekend.

Rather than have a long trip we thought we would pop over to Cowes for a walk around the town and then head straight back.

As we set off it was sunny but cold, it was quite quiet out on the water. A quick but quite bouncy ride saw us moor up at Cowes Yacht Haven on a visitor mooring.

We also saw a nice Riva as we departed the Hamble and a nice Sunseeker as we entered Cowes.

Then we caught up with Steve Hill who had just launched for the start of his season.

By now the dogs were unhappy with the cold.

The Riva we had seen earlier had picked up a mooring, seems a strange place to leave such an expensive boat.

top of the river Hamble just before swanwick marina .....
Charles Frere's house on Howards Way. Now owned by the man who owns Carphone Warehouse I understand. On a nice day he parks all his expensive cars outside where they can take in the view he has of the River.

Missed you all on Sunday. The food in The Anchor was good, but I thought it was surprisingly quiet for a Bank Holiday, although Cowes Yacht Haven was packed, with only two guys on duty trying to take dues, answer the phone, and direct the visitors.
