156 mile round trip and two full days on the tidal Trent for a curry. Are we mad. Quite possibly but it did prove to be a great long weekend away and the weather held for us as well. With all the recent rain it was also nice to not have to worry about the water levels.

Hope the deer made it O.K.

Is that Goole docks? We have never called in, we tend to anchor at Trent end and go straight up the Ouse, Trent or down to Hull.

The deer was fine it climbed out then ran off.

It is indeed Goole. Nice and easy locking but you do have to wait for the commercials to use the lock first. Had to stem the tide for a good 30-40 minutes on the way i whist they locked a couple of big ships out onto the river.

Only just made it in time for the free lockings out as well as they were running late with the commercials. Gets expensive outside the free locking times at £46.50 per vessel but at least you can get in at any state of tide.

Almost had a silly error moment with the anchorage.

Top Tip: When choosing an anchorage make sure you will have enough water at low tide!!

Luckily NC floats in an egg cup full of water with the drive up!!

"Almost had a silly error moment with the anchorage".

Even SWHMBO commented that you looked a bit close! "is he actually floating" were her exact words!

We stayed at home due to the weather forcast, should know by now not to trust it!!

We were just afloat. Not much water left though. Shame we didnt have the dinghy with us because there was a lovely sandy beach on the opposite bank.

We are heading down that way again in a few weeks on the way to Whitby so we will have to go exploring in the dinghy then methinks. :D

Thanks for posting.

Speaking as a man who spent 2 days on his tiny boat unable to go anywhere, (red boards), I think the word I'm looking for is 'vicarious'...

To be honest had we listened to the weather forecast we wouldnt have gone. The forecast was shocking but in reality we were very lucky and didnt get any rain until we were safely tucked back into the marina.

The Trent was high, we only just managed to lock out on Friday night as the Trent was getting higher than the Fossdyke and we scraoed through by the skin of our teeth. It was a great run though and cant wait for the next big trip in a few weeks to Whitby and Scarborough.:D
