Hi
Anyone out there remember the Bandit 18 micro cup yacht designed by Andrew Stewart?
May have been built by Thames Marine or maybe Zygal boats in the early 80's
Has any one got any details or pictures, seem to draw a blank on the internet!
Thanks for any help.

You'll be very lucky if you find any internet reference. Most '80s stuff was never going to make it onto to web. It wasn't until the mid '90s that people started to use it as a resource. Even then it was all Yahoo groups. Probably the worst development of the Information Superhighway.
Lots of Micro Cup boats were virtually handbuilt prototypes. So very unlikely to have a blogging following.

Anyway, have a look here https://www.google.co.uk/search?sou...1&espv=&ie=UTF-8&q=micro cup yachts bandit 18

Or contact Royal Burnham Yacht Club http://rbyc.org.uk.c31.sitepreviewer.com/sailing/offshore.html (scroll down to Booty)

I am quite intrigued by your join date and posting record. Is that real?

Is it similar to the Limbo?

I know this was an old posting but i am excited at the fact I have a bandit 18. Which is now ready to sail again. And there is very little info about this 18 ft racing cruiser I understand there was a magazine article about them but I can't find any reference to when.
If anyone has any information it would be great fully received.
The last item to buy for it over winter is an auxiliary outboard. I'm now seriously looking for a 4/5 hp 4 stroke mariner sailmate with the forward neutral and reverse on the tiller handle. I hope this is about the right size as its displacement is only 635kg
Thank you.

Re: Limbo Bandit 5.5 Micro Cupper (18ft)

Hi,
I have a Limbo Bandit and some details about it which I could copy and send over to you. I will probably be selling it later in the year, age is against me and this is a young person's yacht. Very quick. You always hear about the Limbo 6.6 and 9.9 but never a word about the 5.5
Cheers Jim.

You're joking: I'd put a much lighter weight 2.2 or 3.5 on one of those as a maximum. I put a Mercury 4 on my 22' E-Boat and that drove it well in every direction, whatever the weather.

The micros were nice little boats and I always fancied one the the Beneteau First 18s for a fun day sailer that could be slept in. Might be some hope for me yet :-)
