Bambola's pirate attack was mentioned in an interesting article about people setting off on round the world trips.

More words on this than I have ever seen written about America's cup etc. Obviously the sport side of sailing is of no interest to the ST, but find a lifestyle angle and you've got a winner.

FOCUS page 1.19 I have it, (just saved it from the dogs table cloth), but can’t post it…..if you see what I mean, I could post it though if you are really interested?

I particularly liked this bit...

When Pamela Stephenson, the psychologist, writer and wife of Billy Connolly, recently felt the call of the bilge pump, she ended up with a 112ft super-yacht and a crew of seven.

Escaping a hectic lifestyle in Los Angeles, she sailed 19,000 miles in 10 months, battling across oceans and lazing off tropical islands.

Connolly, who joined her for part of the time, found paradise had its drawbacks, saying that the endless azure lagoons and perfect white beaches were “all the f****** same”. But Stephenson emerged renewed.

“I’ve never felt so terrified and I’ve never felt so in touch with nature,” she said while promoting her book of the voyage, Treasure Islands. “I have a sense of being much stronger.”

Aaaaargh!
