Just about to order one but thought I'd check on here to see if anyone was using one. It's Italian, seems well built but you never know until you get out there and use it. Facnor is the next option.

I fitted Bamar mast furling to a Westerly Corsair I had in the 80s. It was quite well-engineered and seemed to work satisfactorily.

Hi that's interesting, I bought a Corsair in 1993' which had a bamar in mast retro fit, which was great until I lost it overboard with the whole rig around 2000 it was replaced with a Seldon in mast rig. I wonder if the Corsair mentioned was mine, I bought her at Lymington Yacht haven she was called Romans Lady then.
If you do buy a Bamar check if it will accommodate batons , I have had a Maxi Roach and now I have one by Crusader Maxi roach are well experienced in these sails having been making them for a long time, if I live long enough to need another it will be a Maxi roach, the batons improve upwind performance incredible. Good luck with it what ever you buy.

Ah, but is it a mainsail reefing system the OP was enquiring about or a foresail roller reefing system?

Some years ago I fitted a Bamar furler (headsail) on a T24 and so far as I know it is still giving good service. I think the quality is very good, just not as well known outside of Italy as other brands are outside their home markets.

Not mine!

I had a Bamar top down furler back in about 2008 - good quality kit. Was still working perfectly and looking good in 2014 when I sold the boat.

I hope it's not too late but I asked six different riggers in the Caribbean which furling gear they least had to repair, a unanimous Furlex. Which we then bought.

Riggers in the Caribbean won't necessarily see the same mix of makes of furlers as we see in the UK.
