Having posted a couple of weeks ago that it looked like being a non-boaty year, things are now looking up. We've just been invited to join a former colleague for part of his cruise around the Baltic this summer.

What are the best flight options to/from the area? We've had a quick look on the net & come up with a few, but additional info would be helpful. Depending on timing, we'll either be joining the boat at Stockholm, to cruise through the Aland Islands & leaving at Helsinki, or joining at Helsinki & leaving at Riga (possibly Gdansk, but I suspect my annual leave will run out before then!)

thanks

John

Dan-Dare (Ryanair) basically. Stockholm (NYO) is 10 mins from Nykoping Marina - a favourite crew change over. In Finland, they fly to Tampare, which is hours from Helsinski, so you'll be lumbered with Finnair/SAS (generally expensive, but you might get a deal).

There's an overnight ferry from Gdansk back to Karlskrona (Sweden). I dont know about the air. Nearest Ryanair is Lubeck in Germany.

Cheapest out of Riga is BA ...... yep true ! BUT Air Baltic are hotting up the fight to give Easyjet levels of price later this summer !! daily flights are in / out of Riga.

Baltic is good area ..... very small tides - so forget it, once summer comes its fantastic ..... bit cold and miserable at moment though !!!

Nykoping is good and last summer the fixed taxi fare from the airport was 150Skr (divide by 13 to get pounds)
You could also take the airport bus to Stockholm and a taxi to Vasahamn Marina.
You could also in Stockholm get on the ferry to Mariehamn in the Aalands or various points further west towards Helsinki.
Nykoping was about 5 easy days sailing to Mariehamn through very beautiful skerries.
You should have a very good time.
