Baltic vs Southern Brittany

Although I'm a great fan of the Baltic, I don't think that you will get good value in six weeks from the Solent. You will only have a short time there and spend most of it worrying about how to get back. You would really need about three months to enjoy it. I only know northern Brittany but know people who have been to the south. It looks enjoyable, but these things are often a matter of taste. Possibly better food, and a much easier return journey.

+1

Baltic is Europe's best cruising ground, but it's too far for a 6 week holiday. The best part of it is not in the beginning, either, so you may need to make 450 miles to Brunsbuttel then 60 miles of Kiel Canal and another 150 miles to even get well started.

Brittany (North and South) is lovely, and is just 100 miles away. That's what you want for 6 weeks.

Or Western Scotland? Much less crowded, much more beautiful, but of course much less sun . . .

A busy anchorage in September Stockholm Archipelago, there were two other boats in the bay.
