Hi everyone. We're working out the costs of updating a Jenneau SO 379 (2011). It needs new running and standing rigging, new sails (in mast main, regular genoa), and new electronics (fixed GPS, depth, log and wind). We also need to fit an autohelm - there's not at present. I'm trying to do a rough costing to compare with other options. We did this once before with our old Moody Mk 2, but years ago.

I'm currently thinking:

Standing rigging - 3-5k (assuming wire)
Running rigging (fitted by a rigger) - 1.5k
Main and Head sails: 7k (assume mid/budget)
Electronics: 3.5k installed (mid-range, B&G or Raymarine)
Autopilot fitted from scratch: 7k fitted?

Too optimistic?

Thanks, Tom

I have recently completed some of these jobs on a 44ft Beneteau so will give my costs.

Autopilot -
Simrad NAC 3 core pack £2000
New type 2 linear drive ram £1400 (I bought a used ram for £150)
Fairly straight forward to self install

Electronics -
B&G Zeus 9" plotter £1300
B&G Vulcan 9" plotter £800
B&G depth and wind pack with triton 2 screen £1400
Again pretty much plug and play to self install

Standing rigging -
I was £4000 to replace all standing wire rigging and fittings

Unsure as to current running rigging cost as this will depend on spec and what you are replacing

Cost of replacement sails can vary considerably dependent on location and spec

You don’t say where the vessel is located but on sails a lot depends on grade -personally I’m not a fan of elvstrom tat as fitted to many brands so I would speak to a few quality sailmakers eg Pete S in lymimigton who will give you a range of prices -I would think push the 7k up a bit though for the quality level but clearly base Dacron might be had. For rigging in Gosport Jerry the rigger has retired but the guys who have taken on (previous in hamble at performance rigging) most helpful so will know pricere standing rigging etc for an SO.

Agree about sails. If you are planning to keep the boat for a few years then invest in good sails, particularly for the in mast. Kemps made a new in mast sail for my 2015 Bavaria 33 using Vectran and it really made a difference without going to the complexity and cost of vertical battens

We have a similar sized SO 37, and new main and jib from Peter Sanders in Lymington ( I would strongly recommend ) was just over £5k , 2 years ago for good " Hydra net / Vectran" type cloth cruising sails which we occasionally race, Slab main and roller Jib.

Overall I agree with your costs if you are savvy and on the south coast but you'll need to seek out the competitive local rigger etc.
Not sure I would ever use a rigger to replace running rigging when you can do it yourself.

Try Jeckells Sails Of Wroxham Norfolk. They Can supply every thing you need at a competitive price. I have no connection, just a happy customer.

I've done all those jobs on a 39 foot 1998 Swedish cruiser racer over the last few years. Your total looks about right. Mine were:-
New mainsail in Vectran from Kemps £4,500.

Full set of networked Raymarine electronics including 3 displays, autopilot and 7" chart plotter installed myself £6,000.

Unstep mast, replace all standing and running rigging, refurb roller furler, new radio antenna, treat all corrosion on mast and replace various fittings, then restep mast (professional rigger, 16.5m keel-stepped mast) £8,500.
