yesterday I saw this new Yacht&Sail video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPhyYzWhvdM&feature=player_embedded# of the new B50
IMO it does not get to a better ride then this
It plains at 13 knots, rides low even on its higher 47 knots speed...

wow 100% If I would afford one that is what I would call her like this...
Baia have always managed close to perfection with SD and here is another lesson

She seems very smooth and stable, a great ride for sure. A couple of buts, though:
1) When the speaker says he's planing at 13 kts, I wouldn't really call that a fully planing boat, more likely in semi-displacement. A nicely flat one, but still a SD ride.
2) At higher speed, she still has a way too wide wet surface. I don't know if that's what you meant by "rides low", but surely she seems to need some bow lift for such speed!
I'd dare thinking that the helmsman forgot to raise the flaps...
...in fact he insists on proper trimming in his speech, whilst on such boat I'd expect flaps to be as relevant as trim, if not more.

point 1 yes but is actually just on the plane if you see it more.

actually I dont agree on point 2 completely. I think at 40 plus knots a boat if well balanced should still keep most waterline in. Obvisouly he can trim it more but then he might loose some speed, but the boat seems also easy steerable with all the waterline in so actually you dont need to. The b50 also does not do any up and down on high speeds, many boats of the same class with Arnesons do this.

Mapis you never dissapoint me with your comparisons.. 10/10 :)

yes Magnum do ride a little little bit higher minus the old 53 and 63
I think the main reason is for the deep vee all the way 26 degrees aft in most cases and 56 degrees to fore
still there angle and heightness is acceptable...
another reason for this is that Magnum hulls where adapted to the surface drives, while Baia always started to with a clean sheet
You still have a deep vee with Baia. I think this new B50 is 22 degrees aft and fore is about 40.
The comparision is well fit but, will have to see which performs better in rough weather.
Magnum have the weight advantage on there side, and they do surprise you when it matters....
I would not be surprised if the B50 is a bit wet, but in this video it does throw water quite far, and then you can also lift the trims. I think price is also of major concern here between the two as Baia will surely cost much less to the Magnum
