Saturday morning at home I cooked extra bacon and immediately wrapped it in tin foil and put in the fridge. On the way to the boat I added it to cool bag and once on board, straight into the fridge. Sunday morning in Worbarrow Bay I heated the wrapped bacon under the grill and hey presto, fresh tasting bacon and no mess.

You can do that with a variety of dishes and they will taste fresh. Wrapping items up in a foil packet and leaving it in the fridge to marinate is great, then you can toss it into the grill or an oven and it will be a quick, healthy meal. Fish is always good, you just need the fish, some oil or butter, a bit of lemon and you're done!

Here are a few great recipes for other foods that are equally good using the same methods!

We haven't been in Ireland since January and we've had no visitors since then so our stock of Galtee rashers, Denny's sausages and potato bread is long since devoured. I'm longing for a Sunday morning fry.
