Please tell me that I'm not the only person who's ever backed themselves in to a corner? See what a plonker I was www.aboatformypotplants.blogspot.com

(apologies to regular readers of my blog - I will be away now till 4th December. Backed myself in to another corner by agreeing to paint the hall of www.lepetitchateauexperience.com . It's a tough job, and somebody's got to do it, so I thought it may as well be me)

It's when you've locked the boat up, rowed half a mile back to the slip, dragged the dinghy a couple hundred yards and locked it into its rack, shouldered all your gear and walked to the car only to find...

I used to think the fact that the padlock on KS requires the key in order to lock was an embuggerance. Now I see it is saving me from myself. I can't leave my keys on the boat, because I need them with me to lock it as I leave.

Think of it as character building, and that mud mooring out side the pub looks idylic

Similar, when relocating the boat from Crinan to Craobh Haven.
Dropped one car at Craobh; drove to Crinan; sailed to Craobh ... only to discover that the keys for the car at Craobh were still in Crinan.

Resolved by an expensive taxi trip, but it could have easily been a lot further.

Went to boat with friends to sail to Ireland for a week, put my car keys in my wifes black handbag, returned a week later, friends leave, following day we leave, get to car, say to wife, "my car keys are in your handbag", "no they are not"
In the meantime my keys were in another black handbag 150 miles away

I once started to deflate the dinghy before I realised I'd left the car keys and the pump on the boat. Had to re-inflate by blowing into the valves....

Not only did I go to sea with my wife's keys: she had to get a lift to work and the builder had a ton of sand coming, the car was in the way, he had to shovel it over the wall. (Then I lost the engine oil through a leaky oil cooler, repaired it, then i lost the engine oil through a burst pipe, repaired it but had no oil left. Home with the RNLI. Friday 13th. Superstitious, me? Never go to sea on a day with a 'D' in it.)

We're on a swinging mooring with a launch service.
Before he'll let you on the launch, the driver has trained himself to ask if you've got your:
1/ car keys
2/ wallet
3/ mobile phone.
Saves umpteen return trips.
