Out on the water on our boat for the first time for 8 months.
The therapeutic effect of sailing made itself felt more than at any time previously as we rolled our way round the Naze on a cold Saturday to meet up with some chums at Brightlingsea. Not that I cared about the cold. Our last trip, back from Blankenberg last September, resulted in me zonking my L3 and spending most of the month in hospital, leaving me unable to stand, let alone walk. Apart from a problem you wouldn't want to know about, I am almost fit again (but not enough to wash-up) and the fitting-out went well - I've even been up the mast.
I'm not expecting sympathy from the bunch of old lobsters who inhabit this part of the planet, but they might spare a thought for Kermudjon's family who have also had a bad year; our daughter is just getting over a nasty forearm fracture resulting from a drunken uninsured driver a year ago, and SWMBO had a melanoma taken off her arm at Christmas, for which the outlook is supposed to be good.
Isn't sailing wonderful?
