Hi All!

I've just got back in from France after a rather long drive home! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

An amazing 6 weeks but I am no longer the proud owner of my beloved Bayliner! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Two days ago we decided (very reluctantly) to put her up for sale and put an A Vendre sign in the window that morning.

After 3 hours, we had two keen parties and sold for the asking price by late afternoon! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Feeling very sad but look forward to sharing pictures of some great boating times here over the next couple of weeks and then some!

I doubt much has changed here while I've been away, good to be back though!

Chris

I know! Couldn't believe it! But then again she's been kept in absolute tip-top shape by yours truly, cleaned out with fresh water after every trip and sometimes just for the fun of it, and the engine has been constantly serviced and kept well so it runs lovely - came with quite a few extras so we didn't have to cart them all the way home but the price reflected its value and a sigh of relief was breathed when the money changed hands /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm really liking the Crownline 220EX with 5 litre 350hp inboard but I am a big fan of Cap Camarats with big twin outboards so it depends on finances I suppose.

For the minute though, with any luck (results on Thursday) I'll be off to uni for the next 4 years so I won't be around to drive it anyway, so we'd probably like to charter for a couple of weeks during the summer with an apartment, probably in Fuertaventura next year, but as I say business needs to be good for that /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Don't speak to soon.

Whilst you were away, your ID was hijacked and you have made 374 post as a cross dressing raggie!

Have you got some explaining to do... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Welcome back, you're right, the only thing that has changed is the price of fuel and a few forumites threw their toys out and left the forum.

'hlb' kept giving them a hard time! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Oh, and the Major has had a few memory problems ever since he lost his marbles. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Without starting any fights or lenghy discussions, can I know who has departed? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Diesel was £1.20/L here when I went away on the last day of July, it was 1.32/L euros in the South of France, and when I got back today Diesel at a Folkestone Petrol station was £1.43 - jeez! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

This year I noticed a LOT of For Sale signs on boats and there was a very noticeable reduction in the amount of boats on the water and going past on the river, I suspect it is the fuel that is wrecking it - at Sainte Maxime down the road from where I am, at the fuel pontoon the Unleaded 95/8 was 1.63 euros/L last Wednesday, we filled up once and were just very economical, far too expensive to really go out and zip round at those prices!

Thanks Sneddon, at the moment with no crystal ball it looks like it will be a good 4/5 years before we buy a boat again (except chartering abroad) but I've favourited that cos you never quite know how things will turn out, cheers

It felt the most suitable boat for me at SIBS; perfect length, layout, features etc - the engine might be a bit much at today's fuel prices but as a 'next step' boat it looks ideal, I'd rather go in levels than go straight for a 30-odd footer regardless of money, but they do look lovely /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
