Bought the new 10L model yesterday and it fits perfectly in the sink in a washing up bowl to hold it high and drains into the mini second sink but I have not seen how much it produces yet.

Good tip! I'm about to buy a dehumidifier so your post it great timing.
Haven't seen the MBM article, can you remember what model it is, or how much it was?

The MBM article was about the B&Q WDH-610HA
I bought the replacment model the 10 Litre Compact code WDH-610HA-12R
I paid £71.98 ex vat ( I assume their price is EX Vat) and I bought 1.5m of 12.5mm plactic tube for the drain to sink. It has a collecter tray or a bung on the back to a tube to a sink.

All set up with a hose to sink, left it running.
Went down to check it , not running as the water bottle was full ??
As well as a cp for the hose outlet there is also a rubber bung that I had not seen or removed, working ok now.

we have 2 dehumidifiers on the boat... can you over do this and cause damage ? how long should we leave them running?

According to the MBM article you should not drop below 50% relative humidity or you risk drying out and shrinking the woodwork.

I can't see why you would need 2, unless you have a very large boat. Most dehums sold are for a typical 3 bed house, so should easily manage an average sized mobo. I have one, and it only comes on for 6 hours a day, and the boat is always lovely and dry.

Glade someone else did exactly the same as me.... !!!! Couldn't understand why there was water in the internal collection bucket and the sink was dry... dooh!
I am delighted with my B&Q unit, paid £72 for it, as I got it when it was 30% off and took my Dad's 10% old gits discount card on a wednesday... He was especially irritated as the week before he had purchased the same unit at £114.... But neat unit, nice and recommended by MBM & MBY.... and cheap at circa £70!

you might find the boat a little shorter than it was, but leave it in some water for a bit and I am sure it will grow back to its original size....
In all seriousness, 2 I think is overkill unless you have 2 completely separate areas to the boat.... ? The little B&Q unit has a humidity control dial, the first time I switched my one on at the boat it only came one when the dial was set pretty high, so I guess its quite a dry boat, I left it at quite a low setting so I don't think it will come on that much, but just enough to ensure it remains mildew free and smelling nice!

I used to use a B&Q unit in much the same way but the results weren't the best when checked with a max - min combined temperature and humidity weather station.
What I think happens is that whilst the temperature is higher during the day the dehumidifier never switches on as the humidity is low. As the temperature fall the humidity rises and it switches on. Problem is at lower temperatures (less than 10 degrees??) they don't work so well. Hence I always got a high max humidity reading.
I changed to having the dehumidifier on during the day for a few hours when it was warmer set for a lower humidity setting. This gave better results.
I'm using a dessicant model now which isn't so temperature dependant and being as the fan is on all the time gives better circulation throughout the boat.

dehumidifier on all the time, but with said B&Q 10L machine has a humidity setting, so set lowish.... but also have 1 x 1ft tube heater in engine compartment, 1 x 3ft tube heater in main saloon, and green house fan heater set on low setting on thermostatic switch set at 3c. Am I overdoing things.,.. of course I am, do I have a nice dry boat, or course I do.
