Hello folks,

I dunno if anyone can help me.

I've just installed a Zeus3 plotter, windvane and stuff onto my boat and its working fine. I've also got a TP22 Simrad Tiller Pilot. I've got a barrel adapter and Simnet to NMEA2000 wire to convert from Simnet to NMEA2000 and plugged the other end into my backbone, but the plotter refuses to see the Tiller Pilot in the Auto Detect screen for new devices on the network. Have I missed something? I see people saying theirs works, but I've not seen any setup, which leads me to think its basically plug and play, but before I start replacing wires, I figured I'd ask.

Thanks

Tom

Was the TP22 powered up when you tried to find it on network? Did you try manually selecting it as a device?
Check that the Simnet wires are connected correctly at the TP22 cockpit socket.

I have a tp 22 and B&G triton. no problems detecting it as long as it's switched on. one annoying thing is the TP22 compass takes priority over my point 1 which is fine until the tp is in STANDBY when it stops transmitting heading :-(

I spliced into a NMEA 2000 drop rather than pay for an adapter.

Hmm thanks folks. Yeah it was powered on, I didn't try and add it manually but everything else had shown up automatically.

I took the extension off and connected the simnet to micro-c direct to the backbone, but it made no difference. The socket looks fine, I believe. I left the other NMEA wires loose as they aren't in use. I'll go back with a more accurate multimeter and have a prod around and check the converter cable and stuff.

I'm assuming you bought the kit new to you, straight out of the box and that you paid a significant amount of money.

In which case I'd be ringing Navico direct and talking your installation through with them, not us. There is undoubtedly a wealth of information here and you are getting good replies - but surely this is a straightforward problem that is the 'responsibility' of Navico. I suspect they might like to know of issues such as yours - so they can iron them out and make future owner installations easier.

Here in Oz, Sydney specifically, I'd not hesitate to bend their ear(s) and in the past they have always bent over backwards to be supportive.
